About the Position: This position falls under the Defense Health Agency at the 633RD Medical Group Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Directorate of Executives, Medical Squadron Command, serving as the principal office assistant performing various clerical and administrative duties in support of the organization, performing office automation support using multiple automated programs and software such as databases, spreadsheets, and graphics in support of the clerical and administrative work.
Duties
Prepare a wide variety of recurring and nonrecurring correspondence, reports, and other documents.
Review and process incoming and outgoing correspondence, materials, publications, regulations, and directives.
Receive telephone calls, greets visitors, and ascertains the nature of the calls or visits.
Maintain supervisor's calendar, coordinates meeting arrangements, and schedules meetings and/or conferences.
Use varied and advanced functions of word processing software to create, format, modify, edit, and print a variety of letters, reports, memos, and other textual documents.
Establish, update, and maintain office records of various types that may be needed or will assist in the efficient operation of the office.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A fully qualified typist is required.
- This position requires that you obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
- Immunization screening is required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing various clerical and administrative duties in support of the organization such as customer service and filing; performing office automation duties using various software and databases such as, Microsoft Excel, Power Point, and Word, to create memorandums, spreadsheets, and graphics in support of the clerical and administrative work. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
OR
Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
