The typical season for this position is October through May but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: October 2024.

Duties

The incumbent caps, resets, respalls, grouts and reinforces walls, with closer direct supervison, so that the repaired portion closely matches the original, undamaged portions of the structure. Work is documented under the direction of a higher-graded employee. The incumbent loads and unloads cement, soil, stone, tools and equipment, and stacks and handles syone building materials and supplies. The incumbent digs, rakes and back fills exacvations, shovels, concret and mortars and cuts brush. Physical Effort: Incumbent often lifts objects weighing over 50 pounds, unassisted. The incumbent frequently stands while working and must frequently climb ladders and scaffolds from 6 to 30 feet. Bending, stooping, climbing and working in awkward psotions and regularly required. Working Conditions: The incumbent is exposed to a variety of weather conditions while working outdoors and is subject to danger of falling when working from ladders and scaffolds. They may be exposed to dust and dirt while mixing mortar, removing damaged protions of walls, and while handling various masonry materials. Frequently works around heavy equipment and vehicles. In accordance with OSHA regualtions, must use all personal protective equipment as required by OSHA regulations.

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability to do the work of a Masonry Worker-3603-7 without more than normal supervision. (Screen Out). Able to independently perform journeyman level tasks such as: Repair and construction of stone masonry walls and closely related structures. Mix soils, water and amendments for mortars. Remove damaged portions of walls for repair. Implementing prescribed treatments (capping, veneering, reappointing, resetting, new laying, etc.); Use tools related to masonry.
