About the Position: 596th Transportation Brigade provides surface deployment and distribution services from Military Ocean Terminal Sunny Point, Military Ocean Terminal Concord, the West Coast and Alaska.
Duties
Develop Command’s operations, plans, and training programs in accordance with governing policies and procedures.
Plan and implement the command readiness program.
Conduct analysis of movements to detect trends and new requirements and determine their resulting impact on the mission.
Recommend improvements to operations, plans, and programs.
Utilize knowledge of deployment, redeployment process, and mobilization planning to analyze training requirements and maintain unit readiness preparedness.
Utilize automated transportation systems involved in the deployment and redeployment of the force.
Resolve conflicts and ensure consistency with transportation program policies and objectives.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- Position has been designated as "Key" and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization. The incumbent must be exempted from recall to active duty.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 20% of the time.
- Term employment is subject to a one year trial period, unless previously completed. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights.
- Obligated: An employee has statutory restoration rights to this position. You will be asked to sign an agreement acknowledging awareness of obligation and willing to be displaced under reduction in force procedures upon return of former incumbent.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Coordinating deployment operations and deployment training exercises; 2) Preparing and maintaining emergency plans in support of mobilization; 3) Recognizing and resolving transportation related issues that hinder combat capabilities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
