About the Position: The Walla Walla District US Army Corps of Engineers is comprised of motivated and talented employees providing the very best engineering services for communities in the Pacific Northwest. The District helps manage local water resources for navigation, flood damage reduction, disaster assistance, hydroelectric power generation, and other natural and heritage areas.

Duties

Supervises 10 administrative and budget personnel with responsibilities of all administrative, personnel and budget functions of the Engineering and Construction Division. Works closely with District and Division leadership to collaborate and coordinate engineering and construction efforts. Provides overhead budget policy management and monitors expenditure trends. Responsible for the District’s Consolidated Departmental Overhead (CDO) budget comprised of overhead budgets from 4 Division-level organizations. Reviews, approves, and assists in preparation and approval of Engineering and Construction Division personnel actions. Works closely with division, branch, and section chiefs, human resources, and resource management in recruitment efforts and workload management. Facilitates meetings and coordinates meetings and correspondence. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Obtain and maintain a state issued driver's license.
  • Travel up to 10 percent of the time to perform duties of position.
  • File annual financial disclosure, OGE 450.
  • Complete a one-year supervisory probationary period, if not yet completed.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12 or above). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
