You will serve as a INTERDISCIPLINARY Architect (0808) or Civil Engineer (0810) in the Facility Management and Sustainment (FM&S) Product Line of the Public Works Business Line of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND ATLANTIC.

Duties

You will serve as subject matter expert on roofing system maintenance and provide technical assistance in interpreting objectives, policies and functions of the NAVFAC Public Works Roofing Program. You will formulate corporate plans, recommend policy changes and provide oversight and guidance for Navy’s roofing programs and policies worldwide. You will develop effective solutions to resolve project conflicts revolving around scope, criteria, regulatory requirements, technical architectural engineering problems, and areas of responsibility. You will initiate cost reduction methods, applicability of criteria, evaluating new materials and methods of application for prolonging life expectancy of roofing systems. You will advise contracting offices or contractors on the interpretation and application of contractual requirements or organizational policy and regulations. You will serve as the senior member of teams performing roof survey evaluations and inspection providing conclusive results of prevalent conditions and providing best solutions for economic life.

Qualifications

This position has a selective placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. Degree: Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering.
