This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Temp/Term Appt. Authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This Assistant Inspector General Position is located at 1st Armored Div Senior CDR AUG, Office of the Inspector General with duty location of Fort Bliss, TX.

Duties

Serves as an Assistant Inspector General in the Fort Bliss Inspector General Office under the direction of the Inspector General or Deputy Inspector General. Coordinates extensively with commanders, soldiers, staff sections, and civilians to resolve problems, identify violations of regulations and policies, seek systemic root causes, and identify trends.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance through the duration of your employment.
  • IAW with AR20-1, incumbent must successfully complete a three-week U.S. Army Inspector General Course within 90 days employment for continued employment.
  • Incumbent must take the Inspector General's oath of office.

Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience involves responding to complaints; determining appropriate action for complaints; assisting with conducting of investigations; and/or assisting with inspections. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower level/grade position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree which is related to the position being filled.
