Duties

Joining Customs & Border Protection (CBP) will allow you to utilize your expertise to provide guidance, coordination, management, and planning for acquiring or procuring logistics and sustainment support for operational users across the CBP enterprise. This position starts at a salary of $139,395.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $181,216.00 (GS-14, Step 10). Apply for this exciting opportunity to strengthen the Department's ability to perform homeland security functions by serving as a logistics management specialist supporting Enterprise Logistics Life Cycle Management (ELLCM) and Cost Wise Readiness (CWR) initiatives. In this Logistics Management Specialist position you will become a key team member of Homeland Security professionals involved in coordinating and integrating sustainment planning, sustainment engineering, modification program management, program control, analytical studies, logistic and maintenance efforts; performing varied duties that require resolving difficult and complex problems in logistics programs; project studies and/ or other assignments requiring analyses of interrelated issues of effectiveness, efficiency, and quality of substantive logistics programs; developing detailed plans, goals, and objectives; evaluation of long-range implementation of logistics programs and activities; critical decisions about how to proceed in planning, organizing, and conducting product support; and performing in-depth analyses, extensive coordination, and intensive negotiations with different high-level officials. Typical Work assignments include: Developing and evaluating policies, conducting special studies, and providing technical assistance and logistics support. Identifying, planning, resourcing, and implementing maintenance concepts and requirements to ensure the best possible equipment/capability is available to meet CBP requirements at the lowest possible Total Ownership Cost (TOC). Supporting in-service systems in their operational environments, developing, analyzing, and evaluating policies that support long and short-range life-cycle support plans. Developing and recommending policy and procedures for CBP system life cycle product support management, representing the agency (and department) in forums, meetings, working groups, and briefings, both internal and external to the agency. Responsibilities will address all aspects of product life cycle support.

Specialized Experience: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Applying analytical principles and techniques in developing, analyzing, and evaluating life cycle support plan, and policies. Serving as a program consultant and technical expert, providing conclusions and recommendations that have a direct impact on program management plans and decisions. Leading working groups and developing short-and long-range support plans and policies. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 08/13/2024. Current and former federal employees may be required to serve or complete a probationary period.
