This position is located with Bonneville Power Administration, in Transmission Service (T), Transmission Field Services (TF), Wenatchee District (TFW), Substation Maintenace Grand Coulee (TFWJ). A successful candidate in the Electrician Foreman III (T) position will supervise a maintenance district declared to be in a transitional stage.

The screen-out element for this position is: Ability to successfully lead a team of High Voltage Electricians in constructing, Installing, and calibrating electrical sub-stations, power generation/ transmission/ distribution equipment and systems at 11,000 to 500,000 volts; constructing electrical sub-stations and transfer banks; and erecting or modifying steel structures and bis work. This included preforming long and short-term project planning, scheduling work, rating and evaluating employee performance; developing subordinates through training; and assuming overall responsibility for completion of construction and installation projects. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Lead Or SuperviseAbility To Use and Maintain Hand Tools (Electrical Work)Ability To Use Electrical DrawingsKnowledge of Electrical EquipmentTechnical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)Theory and Instruments (Electrical, Electronic) Used in Shop and Trade PracticesTrouble shooting (electrical) Working Conditions: Will normally be exposed to the same conditions as Power System Electricians, but such exposure will not be for the same periods of time or with the same intensity. For example, works in close proximity to energized equipment or in cramped quarters in order to observe work progress, but usually for shorter periods of time than the Electrician Foreman I or II or journeyman, and will not normally work with tools of the trade. However, the Electrician Foreman III (T) may work with the tools of the trade. Potential exposure to radiation could occur if assigned to work at the WNP2 plant (Ashe and Hanford ). Emergencies, critical system conditions, or outage limitations may require that work be system-wide, done at night or under serious time pressures. System priorities may require extended periods of overtime including working weekends and holidays. Physical requirements: Requires ability to work outside in all weather conditions; work at heights as well as underground; inside work required while working on relay and control panels and other electrical equipment. Frequent exposure to hazards typical of working around high voltage equipment and machinery with moving parts. Potential exposure to loud noises. May at times work with various chemicals such as solvents, oils, acids, and PCB's. MSDS are available. Required to wear various levels of PPE (hearing protection, respiratory protection, hard hats, safety glasses; knee pads if required, safety belts and harnesses, insulated rubber or leather gloves, and Tyvek suits). "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Time-in-Grade: Current Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement to receive consideration.
