Reduction In Force (RIF): This position will be impacted by a Reduction In Force (RIF) within the next 3-5 years (subject to change), due to closure of the organization. Impacted employees will be assessed for all eligible Reduction In Force (RIF) benefits should that occur.
Duties
Assign work to subordinates based on priority, difficulty, employee capability and equitable distribution of work.
Interpret incoming correspondence, publications, regulations or directives that may affect the organization to determine the necessary action.
Conduct necessary training for guard personnel on topics such as use of weapons, traffic, crowd control and enforcing personnel identification and control systems.
Plan activities of the guards to ensure compliance with federal, state, and locals laws and official orders and regulations.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
- This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.
- This position is subject to the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP).
- This position requires the incumbent to pass an initial PHYSICAL ABILITY TEST (PAT) within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes overseeing security guard functions, managing the guard workforce and access control; participating in or enforcing special security measures, and protecting property, records, material and equipment against damage, fire, theft and the possibility of sabotage and espionage; AND protecting property and personnel from loss, damage, destruction or compromise within area of responsibility, and ensuring the compliance of rules and regulations pertaining to security.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-08).
Education
