About the Position: This position is with the U.S. Army MSCoE G3 Academics Library, Bruce C Clarke Library at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri.
Fort Leonard Wood is located in the beautiful South-Central Missouri Ozarks. The Fort covers more than 61,000 acres and is located in Pulaski County, bordering Waynesville/St. Robert and Interstate 44. St. Louis is a 2-hour drive east and Springfield is a 1-hour drive west of Fort Leonard Wood.
Duties
The purpose of this position is to provide technical support to a librarian or similar type of information specialist by performing a wide variety of tasks which furnish direct services to the public and technical services.
Performs all aspects of library cataloging, including adapting Library of Congress and Online Computer Library Center (OCLC) records to the current standards and using current subject headings and terms.
Provides circulation desk assistance to library patrons; may be called upon to act as employee-in-charge when librarian or higher-graded technicians are absent.
Provides reference assistance to library clientele.
Maintains Military Publications (MilPubs)and Records and maintains lists of items in MilPubs / Tech Services area.
Participates in the collection development and management for the library; assists in managing the serials and publication’s function; and assists in the acquiring library materials.
Assignments include assisting the librarian in the selection, maintenance, and selective removal and replacement of obsolete and worn materials for the collection.
Searches for possible appropriate titles for addition to the collection and refers them to the librarian, including title, author, ISBN or other identifying number, date and publisher, and source of purchase.
Receives and screens requests for purchase of library materials.
Assists key operators utilizing assigned systems and equipment unique to the library's Sirsi Symphony Library Management System.

- Incumbent is subject to a medical clearance examination prior to employment. This position may require an annual physical or medical surveillance examination.
- Incumbent may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.

Specialized Experience: One year specialized experience in performing all aspects of library cataloging, repairing books, use of library designated software to locate sources items or reference materials, and provide reference assistance to clientele. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
