Duties
Install, maintain, repair, test and adjust a variety of fixed and semi-fixed equipment and machinery, material handling equipment and electromotive equipment.
Diagnose repairs needed, disassembles, repairs, reassembles, and runs operational checks on components of equipment systems.
Perform field maintenance on all equipment.
Determine whether to repair the equipment in place or move it, what parts or materials are required, the time frame for completing repairs, and which methods, techniques and procedures to use.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires a pre-employment and annual physical for physical requirements of position.
- Heavy lifting up to 45 pounds is required.
- Position may require the wearing of certain PPE depending on the task being accomplished, i.e., gloves, mask, coveralls, etc.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) General Equipment Mechanic~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common General Equipment Mechanic duties including performing field maintenance on a variety of fixed and semi fixed equipment such as, machinery, material handling equipment and electromotive equipment. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort
Frequently handles objects weighing up to 45 pounds and occasionally carries objects weighing 45pounds or over for considerable distances. Required to push, pull, reach, walk stand, crawl, kneel, bend, and climbs for sustained periods of time.
Working Conditions
Work is performed inside and outside exposing the mechanic to prevailing. weather conditions, excessive noise, and fumes from vehicles. Constantly exposed to moving objects, elevations up to20 feet, and sharp edges. Dirt, dust, and grease are always present. There is frequent exposure to the possibility of cuts, bruises, shocks, burns, and strains. May also be required to perform duties at other locations.
