About the Position: Assist in the administration of the Military Personnel Awards Program. Responsibilities also include in-processing Congressional inquiries and tracking sponsorship statistics for the command.

Duties
Answer routine inquiries and resolve problems pertaining to various aspects of the Military Awards Program.
Provide administrative support in processing Congressional inquiries received from the White House, Office of Congressional Legislative Liaison, and the Secretary of Defense.
Use office automation hardware and software to develop and implement methods to record, maintain, and retrieve data.
Make distribution of published orders and approved actions in accordance with the agency standards.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Secret Security clearance and access.
- Temporary duty (TDY) travel is required up to 10% of the time.
- A qualified typist is required. Incumbent must be able to type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) processing awards, decorations, and certificates for military personnel; 2) composing correspondences, memorandums, and reports using various office automation hardware and software; 3) consolidating statistical data for awards. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
