You will serve as a DIRECTOR OF PREVENTION EDUCATION at the U.S. NAVAL ACADEMY.

Duties

The incumbent will oversee the implementation and execution of the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Program as it relates to the Brigade of Midshipmen. The incumbent will ensure comprehensive prevention education and training to all Midshipmen, faculty and staff. The incumbent will serve as the senior civilian subject matter expert in the topics of intimate partner violence, sexual assault and sexual harassment prevention, education and training. The incumbent will contribute to large-scale organizational health and prevention programs to promote healthy climates. The incumbent will address problematic/destructive behaviors, including, but not limited to, suicide, sexual harassment, sexual assault, substance misuse, family and interpersonal violence, workplace violence, and military equal opportunity.

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • You will be required to maintain National Advocate Credentialing Program (NACP) Credential for civilian victim advocates and Integrated Primary Prevention Personnel Levels 2-5
  • This position requires DoD Credentialing Program for Prevention Personnel (D-CPP) credential to perform IPP duties.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-12) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Working in the areas of intimate partner violence, sexual assault and sexual harassment prevention, education and training; 2) Overseeing an agency-wide Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Program; and 3) Contributing to large-scale organizational health and prevention programs to promote healthy climates and address problematic/destructive behaviors, including, but not limited to, suicide, sexual harassment, sexual assault, substance misuse, family and interpersonal violence, workplace violence, and military equal opportunity. Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess:

Have successfully completed a behavioral or social science degree, or a degree in a related discipline appropriate to the position being filled.
OR
Have a combination of education and experience that provided knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
OR
Have four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
