THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a IT SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN/CUSTSPT) (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D2726000 and is part of the IL DOL, National Guard.
The permanent location of this position is Bloomington, IL. If selected for this position, you will be required to work in Bloomington, IL. Estimated date of move is 2025. PCS move may be authorized for the move to Bloomington, IL.
Duties
As a IT SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN/CUSTSPT) (TITLE 32), GS-2210-9, you will provide support to Automated Logistics Information Systems and Programs to all state/territory activities/organizations and perform a wide range of specialized methods/techniques for planning; analyzing and identifying problems in order to develop and implement resolutions to administrative and systemic programs throughout the organization.
Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list:
Utilize an extensive knowledge of logistics programs/operations and a clear understanding of automated systems to manage projects and programs for systems integration of CSS automation.
Administer tactical local area network (LAN) clients, monitor ongoing operation of tactical network systems to ensure hardware and software functions, and meets operational standards.
Identify and resolve complex tactical network related problems occurring within the assigned area of responsibility.
Troubleshoot hardware, software, and LAN/Client operating system problems.
Ensure software and vulnerability updates are applied in proper order.
Coordinate and communicate with the Department of the Army (DA), and National Guard Bureau (NGB) regarding CSS operations and automated systems support, problem resolution, software upgrades and change packages.
Assist functional users in automated CSS systems management and operation.
Serve as a Systems Administrator for all CSS automated logistics information systems and programs and as a technical expert within the state/territory is responsible for providing technical and functional guidance for specified Automated Logistics Information Systems and Programs to operators and supervisors.
Analyze requirements, manage, and coordinate hardware for automated logistics information system and peripherals pertaining to the receipt, distribution, installation, and life cycle management of devices that are directed to be managed at unit/state level.
Install, test, and evaluate automated logistics information systems hardware.
Perform organizational and direct support level automated logistics information system hardware maintenance as required.
Qualifications
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of considerations for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), will be in the following manner and sequence,
The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG.
The SECOND area of consideration will be all current Federal Employees.
The THIRD area of consideration will be all Federal re-employment eligible.
The FOURTH area of consideration will be applicants willing to become T32 Dual Status Technicians and gain ILNG membership.
The FIFTH area of consideration will U.S. Citizens.
Military Grades: Enlisted/Warrant Officer/Officer - Minimum Rank E4 - Maximum Rank O5
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: MUSTpossess IT-related experience demonstrating ability to be conscientious about attending to detail while performing work; works well with clients and customers, ability to express information to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information; make clear and convincing oral presentations; ability to identify problems and evaluate solutions.
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the lower grade level in the Federal service in order to be considered for this position.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-9 Level MUST possess at least 1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade of GS-7; experience, education, or training receiving, maintaining, and issuing data storage media for computer operations; experience in scheduling the use of computer time for program processing; experience collecting and sequentially staging input media with associated program instructions for processing; experience in at least one programming language; translating detailed logical steps developed by others into language codes that computers accept where this required understanding of procedures and limitations appropriate to use of a programming language; experience interviewing subject-matter personnel to get facts regarding work processes and synthesizing the resulting data into charts showing information flow; experience in analysis of the interrelationship of pertinent components of the system; experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment; experience scheduling the sequence of programs to be processed by computers where alternatives had to be weighed with a view to production efficiency.

Education
If you are using Education to qualify for this position, for GS-9 you must possess a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree.
Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions
