***THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.*** This National Guard position is for a HEALTH SYSTEM SPECIALIST, Position Description Number D1119000 and is part of the JFHQ - G1, Marietta, GA, National Guard. This is a full-time, Excepted Permanent, dual status position which requires Georgia Army National Guard Membership. AREA OF CONSIDERATION: Open to current members of the Army National Guard.

Duties

As a Health System Specialist, GS-0671-09, you will: Responsible for oversight, administration, and implementation of policies pertaining to state medical affairs, and exercise of programs such as: Line Of Duty (LOD) Investigation Program, Incapacitation Pay Program, Active Duty Medical Extension (ADME) Program, MOS Medical Review Board (MMRB) Program, Medical Disqualification Program, Follow up Health Care Program, Medical Claims Processing Program, Medical Travel and Orders Program, Medical Evaluation Board (MEB), Physical Evaluation Board (PEB), Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) Screening Program, Immunization Program, routine and special physical examinations and waivers, Weight Control Program, and Over-40 Medical Screening Program. Coordinate with the National Guard Bureau (NGB), the Military Medical Support Office (MMSO), Tri-Care, U.S. Total Army Personnel Command (PERSCOM), Regional Medical Command, the Military Treatment Facilities, and the Medical Evaluation Board (MEB), and Physical Evaluation Board (PEB) Liaison Offices located within the state. Serve as the principle advisor to the Chief of the MILPO, as well as to general officer commanders, and personnel on eligibility for health care, sources of health care, medical aspects of physical readiness training and testing, Active Duty Medical Extensions, and LOD investigations. Coordinate, assemble, monitor and ensure the proper conduct of the Incapacitation Pay Review Board and the MOS Military Review Board. Assign work to subordinate employees based on organization priorities and consideration of difficulty and requirements of assignments such that the experience, training, and abilities of staff are effectively utilized to meet organization and customer needs. Establish metrics and utilizes analysis systems to ensure actions are timely and reviewed at critical points. Perform other duties as assigned.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.

  • May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required.

Qualifications

Military Grades: Warrant Officers and Enlisted Compatible Military Assignments: EMOS: 42A, 68G, 68W, 68Z, 91B, 91C WMOS: 420A GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience in administrative or technical work which demonstrates the applicant's knowledge of missions, originations, programs, and requirements of health care delivery systems; ability to analyze problems and present both oral and written recommendations taking into consideration the wide range of factors and requirements which affect the management of the health care delivery system. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 24 months experience, education, or training which provided a working knowledge of missions, organizations, programs and requirements of health care delivery systems. Experience analyzing and recommending solutions to complicated problems. Experience developing and implementing various policies and procedures used in the state medical programs. Experience involving various administrative areas such as budget, personnel and public relations within a medical activity.
