This position is located at the Crownpoint Healthcare Facility, Division of Administrative Services, Support Services Branch, Crownpoint, NM. This position is responsible for receiving, verifying, distributing, storage, assembling for issue, inventory of supplies, equipment and the safe operation of an electric forklift and other material handling equipment. Incumbent reports to the Support Service Supervisor.

Duties

Receives, unloads and processes incoming shipments; assembles items into groups based on information shown on the freight bills and receiving documents. Routes supplies not requiring inspections to proper individual and/or to the designated organization units. Inspects all capitalized and non-capitalized equipment for damages; tags all equipment with property tags; records all equipment in proper records; assembles equipment that is receive packages. Retrieves and stores all equipment for correct disposal, ensuring security and accountability. Assures that the correct Material Safety Data sheets are included with all shipments. Maintains tight security of store rooms and other storage areas. Processes outgoing official metered mail on a daily basis, which involves sorting, metering to various services. Operates vehicles to and from designated locations on the basis of specific trip assignment or schedules to transport equipment or supplies. Issue medical oxygen, compressed air, regulators, carts, concentrators by doctor's referrals only. Responsible for coordination of GSA Vehicle Assignments for the Crownpoint Service Unit. Inspects Government vehicles weekly as far as total maintenance by keeping them filled with gas and checking all fluid levels, maintaining mechanical attention. Responsible for small purchases thru GSA or open market using IHS-393 or Impac Card.

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. For positions requiring positive education requirements, or if you are using education to meet all or part of the qualification requirements, you MUST submit a copy of your transcripts or an itemized list of college courses which includes equivalent information from the transcript (course title, semester/quarter hours, and grade/degree earned) in your resume. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, applicants will be rated on the basis of their responses to the Occupational Questionnaire that you possess the competencies to perform the duties of this position without more than normal supervision, and the information contained in their resume. Your resume must demonstrate experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: performing materials handler duties, including apply material handling techniques in storing items providing for easy retrieval, convenience in handling, protection from damage, and ease of movement, safeguard material, items, and equipment from damage or loss, store, stack, palletize, and/or rotate items considering their use, shape, quantity, and special handling requirements, uses materials handling equipment to arrange, move, stock, or rotate items (for example, platform lifts, fork lifts, work savers, warehouse tractors), use manual or automated inventory systems to inventory items which may include the use of formal, informal, item-by-item, or group inventory methods. Physical Effort: Incumbent is often required to stand on hard surfaces for extended period of time, and to bend, stoop and work in tiring and sometimes uncomfortable positions. May lift and carry items that weight up to 40 pounds. The heavier items are moved with weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. Working Conditions: At the grade 5 level, work is done inside or outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty, or poorly lighted. Materials handlers are regularly exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapers, bruises, abrasions, falls, and injury from falling stock or mechanized work areas. When working in hazardous materials areas, they may be subject to exposure from radiation, toxins, explosive hazards, or chemical fumes. Work may require wearing protective clothing such as hardhats, steel toed shoes, rubber gloves, masks, and rubber aprons. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
