This position is located at US Mint,Manufacturing Directorate - Denver - Plant Engineering Division. As a Sheet Metal Mechanic, you will perform a wide variety of duties exercising ingenuity and imagination to design, plan, lay out, form, assemble, fabricate or construct and install complex and one-of-a-kind parts or items in addition to repairing and modify equipment to sustain coin production and facility operation.
Duties
As a Sheet Metal Mechanic, you will:
Perform work involving the planning, laying out, fabrication, assembly and installation of components for systems such as air mixing units, heat, air conditioning, ventilation, water, gas, steam and compressed air.
Operate and maintains a variety of tools common to the trade for bending and forming metal up to 14 gauge steel. Gauge of metals used but are not restricted to are one quarter-inch thick metal for cast iron, black iron, aluminum, alloy steels, stainless and galvanized steel, copper, brass, and bronze.
Perform work involving oxyacetylene, Tig, Mig, Carbon-arc, heliarc, inert gas shielded arc welding, brazing, plasma-arc cutting, and silver soldering processes as applied to the fabrication, maintenance, and repair of building and machinery systems and equipment.
Perform structural steel fabrication where innovation is required to meet critical close tolerances and strength that must withstand extreme operational conditions and comply with safety requirements.
Participate in Reliability Centered Maintenance program improvements by providing subject matter expertise on areas of responsibility and evaluating the effectiveness of planned/preventive maintenance work orders.
