This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base Facilities and the Major Range and Test Facilities Base Positions to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties
Perform renovation, demilitarization, loading, modification and normal maintenance of high explosives and ammunition.
Perform disassembly and breakdown of ammunition items by operating a variety of machines, equipment and fixtures, such as pull-apart or breakdown machines, defusing, deboostering, decrimping and debanding machines.
Perform manual assembly operations such as assembling a fuse, inserting booster charges and detonators, screwing or bolting down components to achieve mechanical strength.
Know the cycle of operation of multiple work processes, machines and equipment involving several controls performing more than one operation.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position meets the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening and random testing.

- This position requires an Arms, Ammunition and Explosives (AAE) Security Certification/Screening in accordance AR 190-11.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
Qualifications
About the Position: The Joint Munitions Command provides the Joint Force with ready, reliable, lethal munitions at the speed of war. JMC's mission is to support the production, storage, distribution, and demilitarization of munitions.This position serves as an Explosive Operator located at the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant, which is a subordinate installation of JMC. This position produces and renovates quality conventional missile ammunition and ammunition-related components, perform engineering and product assurance in support of production, and receive, store, ship, demilitarize and dispose of conventional and missile ammunition and related items.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Explosives Operator ~ without more than normal supervision. The ability to perform common operations of an automatic single operation machine with few controls to assemble. Disassemble ammunition, explosives, ammunition components or fused projectiles in a production-type environment. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
Physical Effort: This position frequently lifts objects weighing 25 to 40 pounds. Some assignments require lifts above 40 pounds at a production pace. All lifts over 50 pounds will be assisted with a two person lift or using a mechanical handling equipment lifting device. The two person lift limit is 100 pounds and will only be used for single event, non-routine lifts. May pull or push hand trucks weighing several hundred pounds. The work requires sitting, walking, bending, reaching, crouching and long periods of standing. Endurance and eye-hand coordination are required to work at a set pace and rhythm for long periods.
Working Conditions: This position performs work indoors or outdoors in covered areas or passageways, which provide some protection. Work areas are usually well lighted and ventilated. Some operations cause uncomfortable steam and heat in the work area. You are required to stand on floors made of concrete, lead, or conductive composition and required to wear protective clothing such as specially treated coveralls, respirators, and goggles on many assignments. You are frequently exposed to moisture and wet floors as a result of cleanup operations in powder areas. You are exposed to the possibility of explosion and flash fires and there is a chance of injuries ranging from loss of life or limbs to burns, cuts, bruises, sprains, and nausea.
