Duties
If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing a wide range of legal support services to one or more Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) or Special Assistant United States Attorneys (SAUSAs) responsible for conducting litigation in the Criminal Division. The subject matter will include a broad range of general criminal litigation, including violent crime and immigration matters. Legal support services include assistance with case management and case presentations as well as automated case litigation and management programs. Typical work assignments will include:
Prepare, organize, index, develop, and manage exhibits, evidence and data, including electronically stored information.
Prepare a variety of documents including information requests, pleadings, correspondence, memos, and other documentation related to the acquisition of evidence for criminal investigations.
Manage and operate a variety of computer hardware such as printers, plotters, audio-visual devices, and other equipment to conceptualize exhibits and complete special presentation projects.
Analyze and summarize factual aspects of cases, including reading and analyzing reports of federal agencies on particular cases.
Organize and coordinate discovery, including indexes and production logs.
Assist in organizing voluminous case information for efficient retrieval through automated means such as scanning, indexing and controlling of documents into a data base.
Providing technical advice to litigation teams on legal automation requirements and systems capabilities to facilitate litigation decisions, trial preparation and presentation;
Recommending software packages based on effectiveness for presentation of complex and voluminous evidence of production of graphic and/or video demonstrative evidence
Requirements
- You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
- Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation

Qualifications
Applicants must possess and demonstrate in their application package that they meet the following minimum qualifications:
GS-11: To be eligible at the GS-11 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions:
Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: working in a law office performing work related to Litigation Support services such as analysis, processing and sorting of electronically stored information for investigative and litigative purposes; responding to Litigation Support matters during the lifecycle of trial preparations and presentations; creation of large databases for case files; installation/coordination of Litigation Support software/equipment.
Education: Possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a related field (e.g., Criminal Justice, Law); or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. Education must be related and demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position.
Combining Education and Experience: Combination of specialized experience and graduate level education can be used if, when combined, equivalent to 100% of the qualification requirement. Only graduate level education in excess of the first two years can be used in this calculation. To calculate your percentage of graduate education, first determine the total number of graduate level hours that exceed 36 semester hours (or your school's definition of two years of graduate study), then divide the total number of your excess graduate semester hours by 18 (or your school's definition of one year of graduate study). To calculate your percentage of specialized experience, divide the total number of months of qualifying experience by 12. Now, add the two percentages together. The sum of the percentages must equal at least 100%. (transcripts are required).
Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. Education
