Duties

You will maintain the base traffic controls by troubleshooting all major components of a traffic controller and associated hardware and wiring. You will troubleshoot, modify, repair, and rewire boilers and steam generators; test troubleshoot and repair flame safeguard controls. You will test, install, troubleshoot, modify, repair, calibrate, and rewire pump controls located in wells, sewage lift stations and treatment plants. You will monitor, test and troubleshoot buildings, transformer banks, computer and other electrical circuits using power monitoring and consumption equipment. You will sample and analyze data for power quality surveys using power monitoring and consumption equipment.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • You will be required to furnish your own hand tools. Specialized tools will be issued.
  • The following basic tools are required: small, medium, and large blade Screwdrivers; small, medium and large Philips Screwdrivers; long nose, adjustable, and diagonal cutting pliers; 10" Adjustable Wrench; Retractable Ruler; AND a Wire Stripper.
  • You must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

Qualifications

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to Perform the Duties of the Position without more than Normal Supervision. Sample tasks performed in this position include: Repairing, troubleshooting, and calibrating complex electronic and electrical instruments, meters, and controls in steam generating plants (e.g., boiler instruments, meters, and controls).
