Duties
You will install, maintain, and repair electrical power and lighting lines and cables and associated parts of circuits.
You will test, repair electrical equipment and appliances in shop and machinery areas, runs power circuits, provide electrical connections from machinery; install motors, electric ovens, and furnaces, electric welding machines and similar equipment.
You will inspect and test equipment for operation and safety.
You will disassemble electrical equipment, traces circuits and locates defects, clean and replace parts. You will install switches, circuit breakers, regulators, meters, relays, automatic voltage regulators and similar items.
You will calibrate such instruments as ammeters, voltmeters, frequency meters and related instruments.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You are required to POSSESS and maintain a current valid United States driver license. NOTE: Failure to provide a copy with your application will result in an automatic disqualification.
- You may lift and carry weights up to 100 pounds but the average weight varies between 30-70 pounds and is carried for short distances.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- You will furnish hand tools such as electrician's hammer, side cutting pliers, diagonal pliers, and screw drivers of assorted lengths, water pump pliers and voltage tester.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
Qualifications
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
