You will serve as a Security Specialist in the NAVAL SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT ACTIVITY.
This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.
Duties
You will develop and evaluate a full range of program security documents, policies, and procedures and coordinates implementation.
You will provide security risk management guidance pertaining to the protection of advanced technology.
You will review and approve physical security documentation.
You will conduct site surveys and recommendations or physical security accreditations.
You will review documents for appropriate classification and make specific recommendations for changes to ensure adequate protection of classified documents/items.
You will interpret and implement organizational security policies and procedures.
Requirements

- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience includes duties related to the following:
1) Participating in security compliance inspections and self-inspections.
2) Participating in the development of corrective actions plans.
3) Leading the investigations of security incidents and reporting and documenting findings.
4) Assessing security problems, including analyzing alternatives, recommending solutions and providing technical security direction and guidance.
5) Writing and reviewing security policy and conducting briefings.
