The primary purpose of this position, AIRCRAFT MECHANIC (ACFT PNEUDRAULIC SYSTEMS MECHANIC), WG-8852-12, is to perform preflight, postflight, and thruflight maintenance on highly modified and instrumented F-22 aircraft.
Duty Title: F-22 Maintenance Mechanic
Duties
Accomplish maintenance on test aircraft, preflight, and thruflight and special inspections, as well as scheduled and unscheduled flightline maintenance.
Accomplish preflight checkout of inspected/repaired aircraft prior to flight.
Perform postflight as prescribed.
Perform limited scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on installed and uninstalled engines.
Perform other related duties as required such as towing aircraft, tow team member.

- PHYSICAL: THIS POSITION REQUIRES A PRE-EMPLOYMENT PHYSICAL.
- Must be capable of being certified to Special Access Information.
- Must be able to qualify for licenses to operate vehicles and AGE, and to pass physical examinations.
- Requires good color perception, eye and hand coordination and finger dexterity.
- Requires good distant vision and the ability to read printed material without strain (glasses are permitted); ability to hear normal conversation voice with or without a hearing aid.
- Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Subject to rotating shifts, uncommon tour of duty, and possible Temporary Duty (TDY) assignments.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-8800 Aircraft Overhaul Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
The screen out element for this position is Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Light to moderate physical exertion is required in lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds. Required to stoop, bend, climb, squat, walk and stand for extended periods on concrete floors or pavement.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Required to perform work both inside and on the flightline in all types of weather conditions. Required to work around toxic chemicals; subject to injury from noise, toxic and corrosive chemicals, falls, jet engines, operational aircraft, moving vehicles and machinery. Required to wear ear protection and protective clothing while servicing aircraft systems.
