You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT of NAVFAC NORTHWEST.

Duties

You will coordinate equipment and infrastructure at field sites to ensure completion of assigned project. You will review project plans and specifications prior to contract award for technical soundness to determine practicability from a construction/maintenance management standpoint. You will develop relationships with and between contractors, government, and the organization, in collaboration with integrated project teams (IPTs), to enhance the government's ability to monitor a contractor. You will analyze organizational and operational problems to develop economical solutions. You will develop solutions to mitigate risk, recommend alternative courses of action or eliminate obstructions to project completion.

  • This position is considered Key/Non-Combat Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support of the expeditionary requirements in other than combat or combat support situations.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

Qualifications

For Outside applicants claiming VEOA (i.e., those without current or prior Federal competitive or excepted service). Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties:1) Managing multiple projects to include, but not limited to construction, alteration, modification, operation, maintenance and repair of facilities, equipment and utility systems;2) Serving as subject matter expert in facility and utility management;3) Implementing materials of quality assurance, quality control, safety, regulatory compliance, and logistic compliance;4) Managing multiple projects to include, but not limited to construction, alteration, modification, operation, maintenance and repair of facilities, electrical equipment and utility systems;5) Preparing cost estimates for projects and preventative maintenance plans.**NOTE: This experience must be fully and clearly supported in your resume. **For Applicants who are Current Federal competitive service employees.
