THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN, Position Description Number T7010000 and is part of the PA State Army Aviation Office, National Guard. 1 or more Position(s) may be hired against this Announcement.

Duties

As a ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN, GS-0856-11, you will perform on-site maintenance and independent certification of complete systems or subsystems and components of electronic navigational aids and communications systems used in air traffic control for arriving and departing aircraft. Diagnose causes of unusual navigational equipment through the application of advanced electronic theory and system analysis procedures and the utilization of special electronic test equipment. Conduct or participate in site surveys for technical characteristics to determine best location for new or relocated air traffic control facilities. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

APPOINTMENT STATUS: EXCEPTED This is a Title 5 Excepted Service position in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. AREA OF CONSIDERATION: Bargaining Position AOC A: NG employees at the State Army Aviation Office AOC B: NG employees in the State Army Aviation Directorate (This includes Army Aviation Support Facility 1 and 2, and Eastern Army Aviation Training Site) AOC C: NG Employees of the Pennsylvania National Guard AOC D: All Service Members of the Pennsylvania National Guard AOC E: Federal Employees in an Agency outside of the Pennsylvania National Guard AOC F: U.S. Citizen Applicants Supervisor for this position is Jay Wilcox. *NOTE: Accessioning into this position is contingent upon verification of Tier 3 Security Clearance. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training performing simple mechanical installations and adjustments. Experience which demonstrates the applicant's ability to recognize obvious malfunctions. Experience using common hand tools. Experience that demonstrates the ability to follow written instructions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Application must indicate 36 months experience, education or training in utilizing principles, basic functions and application of theory of electronic systems or equipment. Experience in diagnosing problems and determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic equipment or systems. Experience in making mechanical repairs that required the use of precision measuring and calibrating equipment. Experience in using complex test equipment such as deviation meters, complex special test panels, etc. Experience which demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications. QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant's record of experience, training, and education must show possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position to be filled.
