You will serve as a SHIPFITTER SUPERVISOR in the Norfolk Ship Support Activity (NSSA), Regional Maintenance Center (RMC), Production Department (Code 900), Hull Division (Code 920), Watertight Closures Branch (Code 9221) of MID ATLANTIC REGIONAL MAINTENANCE CTR.

Duties

You will serve as the technical and administrative supervisor over the Shipfitting/Sheet Metal Branch exercising full supervisory responsibility over work operations. You will plan weekly and monthly work schedules, and sequence of operations for subordinates. You will establish deadlines and priorities on the basis of general work schedules, methods, and policies. You will explain work requirements, methods, and procedures. You will investigate work related problems to identify causes and implement corrective actions. You will develop performance standards, counsel employees on performance, and make formal and informal performance appraisals.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
