Salary: $25 - 33 per hour

You will serve as a INSTRUMENT WORKER in the Metals Laboratory Branch (Code 1430.2), Quality Assurance Division (Code 1430), Naval Foundry and Propeller Center (Code 1400)(NFPC), located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania a detachment of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will learn and perform the common and most typical tasks on precision instruments relative to the work such as: dial indicators, micrometers, depth gauges, Vernier gages, etc. You will perform precision tool issue and pre-check function located in the tool crib, with associated work connected to the repair and calibration service. You will complete manual inventory count of stock on hand and daily inventory for stock adjustment You will assist Toolmakers and Instrument Mechanics in the maintenance, repair and calibration of precision hand tools, electronic RPM indicators, laser survey and alignment equipment, and various optical tooling. You will assist mechanics in the operation and use of standard precision measure machines associated equipment and hand tools.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to lift and/or carry loads/items over 50 pounds in weight.
