About the Position: This position is with Geotechnical Branch, Geology and Investigations Section in Engineering Division. Recruitment/Relocation incentive may be authorized if found in the best interest of the Government.
Duties
Serves as a team leader, responsible for planning, directing and coordinating technical engineering support and materials testing operations of the Government QA Laboratory.
Leads engineering technicians engaged in a variety of standard and special sampling drilling and analytical equipment and tools, the collection, physical analysis and field testing of soil, concrete, and materials samples.
The work requires the application of practical knowledge of concrete and geotechnical materials testing methods principles and practices, and knowledge of related scientific fields such as soil science, geology and hydrology.
Provides oversight of lab operations and ensures that soils and concrete tests are done in accordance with applicable regulations.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting laboratory testing of soils and/or concrete, coordinating testing efforts with internal and external customers, and conducting field investigations to include overall documentation of field and lab testing.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
