The position is located with the Information Technology Department at the Gallup Indian Medical Center, Gallup, NM. The employee also serves as a Nurse Specialist, provides specialized nursing care to patients in a ward of a hospital with injuries, illnesses or attitudes that require adaptation of established nursing procedures.

Duties

Responsible for the implementation and support of multi-service software packages that automate the capture of clinical encounter information and its subsequent retrieval. The application coordinator manages the customization of the site parameters, table maintenance, technical settings and addresses integration issues with other software packages. Analyzes and evaluates processes related to information flow. Serves as liaison between service lines, clinics and departments concerning these processes, clinical, business and administrative. Acquires a comprehensive knowledge of the software involved to determine what are procedural issues versus systems/application deficiencies. Establishes effective Interpersonal relationships with all levels of medical center personnel. Promotes an atmosphere that encourages enthusiasm and user participation in clinical computing. Promotes an awareness of the importance of data validity, data quality and data security. Coordinates efforts to correct deficiencies and errors that occur in the electronic record. Provides training to all departments and staff on current software applications, new features and insures training is scheduled for new users. Emphasizes timeliness, accuracy, security, quality and the importance of these functions on every other clinical application. Performs administrative, consultative, or staff advisory work concerning the administration of a nursing program for hospital, clinic, or other medical care facility.

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social).You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing. A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education , Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools. Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. GS-12 (or equivalent) Grade Level In addition to the mandatory license and education described above under Basic Requirements applicants must have at least one or more full years of professional nursing experience that is equivalent to the next lower grade level. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Implementing, analyzing, coordinating and evaluating multi-service clinical software applications in a hospital or clinic setting; Evaluating, managing and developing solutions to program failures following implementation of software patches. Teaching and training end-users regarding clinical software applications. Experience coordinating services for patients with chronic conditions requiring a long-term plan of care. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
