You will serve as a FIREFIGHTER (BLS/HAZMAT TECHNICIAN) in the Fire and Emergency Services of NAVAL AIR FACILITY EL CENTRO.
Salary for GS-07: $57,007- $77,110
Salary for GS-06: $51,300- $66,692
Duties
You will administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automatic external defibrillation (AED) for a patient.
You will operate firefighting equipment (e.g., pumps, foam generators, boom, ground sweep nozzles) to control or eliminate fires.
You will establish on-scene control procedures (e.g., zone control, decontamination) in a hazardous material incident.
You will position firefighting vehicles in consideration of external factors (e.g., wind direction, sources of water, hazards from falling structures, location of armament on aircraft).

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This position is considered Key/Non-Combat Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support of the expeditionary requirements in other than combat or combat support situations.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position requires the ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth.
Qualifications
For GS-7
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-6 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:1) Controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department/brigade; 2) Performing rescue operations; 3) Detecting, reducing, or eliminating potential fire hazards; 4) Controlling hazardous materials incidents; 5) Driving and operating firefighting vehicles; and 6) Performing non-invasive emergency medical procedures. NOTE: THIS INFORMATION MUST BE SUPPORTED IN YOUR RESUME TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE POSITION.
This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications for the GS-7 position: Firefighter I and II, Airport Firefighter, HAZMAT Operations, Driver/Operator Airport Rescue and Firefighter (ARFF), Driver/Operator-Pumper, Driver/Operator Aerial, and National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NR-EMT). These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or Pro Board to meet the requirement. If you do not possess all of the above certifications and you have not attached copies of your certifications, you will be rated ineligible.
For GS-6:
