This position is located at Departmental Offices,Terrorist and Financial Intelligence, Office of Global Targeting (OGT) within the Office of Foreign Assets Control. As an Assistant Director, you will head one of OGT's divisions. OGT's core mission is to identify, investigate, and propose U.S. sanctions on foreign persons who pose a threat to the foreign policy, national security or economy of the United States, as well to take action related to removal of sanctions consistent with U.S. law.
Duties
As an Assistant Director, you will:
Oversee Office of Global Targeting investigations and relevant domestic and overseas office elements
Conduct research and investigations of foreign persons
Manage the preparation of complete evidentiary materials that meet the legal standards necessary for designation and removal
Prepare official documents that implement designations and delistings upon signing by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) Director.
Organize and manage investigations and functions related to the removal petitions process initiated by foreign persons who are listed on OFAC's Specially Designated Nationals List or other lists.
Coordinate investigative activities with other components within Treasury's Office of Terrorism and Financial Intelligence (TFI), as well as the U.S. interagency, the National Security Council, and foreign partners.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-15, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
Preparing or reviewing evidentiaries and petition requests and related documentation such as those that meet legal sufficiency to support the imposition and removal of sanctions; AND
Preparing or reviewing sanctions investigations or contributing to the related documentation; AND
Working with senior managers, such as the U.S. diplomatic, law enforcement, or intelligence communities; AND
Conducting evaluations, examinations, or other fact finding studies to obtain or verify information (e.g., research of administrative, program, or legal issues and application to facts); AND
Planning, developing, administering, and managing a diverse staff through subordinate managers.
The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
