The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the primary financial and administrative support assistant for the detachment performing a variety of financial, personnel, and office automation duties. This position carries the Commander's delegated authority in the day-to-day monitoring, organizing and execution of the squadron's major administrative programs.
Duties
Independently performs a variety of complex budgetary, administrative, and statistical functions to support budget formulation for an organization and its components.
Independently tasks involving budget execution by compiling resource data from various financial management reports. Performs recurring work assignments.
Serves as primary point of contact for information and assistance regarding program requirements and processing procedures that relate to the Performance Management and Incentive Awards Programs. Oversees the unit's military performance report and the awards & recognition programs.
Uses multiple office automation software with varied functions to produce a wide range of documents, formats, etc. reviews and process all incoming and outgoing communications, correspondence, materials, publications, regulations, and directives.

- The employee must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate U.S. SECRET security clearance.
- Management is responsible for ensuring the Unit Manning Document correctly reflects this requirement.
- Personal data, to which the incumbent has access, are controlled by the Privacy Act of 1974 and must be safeguarded appropriately.
- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
- The position will require uncommon tours of duty during real world crisis's/contingencies.
- Employee must work under pressure. Irregular duty hours and overtime may be required.
- The employee and position may be recalled to duty.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, General Administrative, Clerical, and Office Services.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-06, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of a wide variety of budgetary methods, techniques and policies for monitoring actual versus programmed expenditures of funds, to include identifying and extracting budgetary information from many different source documents; obtain, monitor and track division funds; recommending modifications and drafting revisions to local guidelines for budget estimates, reports and processing of funding requests; performing and directing a wide variety of administrative support duties relating to the military awards and decorations program and military performance reporting systems; using various office automation software applications to produce a wide range of documents, reports or automated processes; advising on the use of grammar, spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and commonly-used specialized terminology to prepare correspondence and material correctly.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of financial processes, policies, procedures, and terminology. Knowledge of an extensive body of rules, procedures, policies, and processes covering the review, validation, and submission of a wide range of funds management and financial transactions under appropriated funds and reimbursable accounts to process and extract budgetary data from a variety of forms, documents, and reports.
Skill in monitoring and evaluating financial data and in developing and analyzing common trend lines. Skill in preparing financial and administrative reports for assigned programs and projects. Ability to plan, organize work, and meet deadlines.
Knowledge of word processing automation software functions to support office operations and ability to instruct and train users to produce a variety of textual documents such as letters, reports, memos, and form letters.

A qualified typist is required.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
