About the Position: This position is located with the US Army Personnel Operations Group G-1, Personnel Suitability Division / Child Services Suitability Cell, in Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD.
Duties
Evaluate of Personnel Suitability/Security Investigations, security files and other source documents.
Review suitability documents and related material for information adversely reflecting on the individual’s loyalty or character.
Process cases that are complex requiring the incumbent to take necessary administrative and suitability adjudicative actions to make final suitability eligibility determinations.
Evaluate and analyze all available information, determines its authenticity and pertinence.
Prepare written reports of all issues, recommend and provide supporting rationale for granting, denying, or revoking suitability eligibility.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP-SECRET security clearance.
- This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment. (see additional information for details)
- Required to satisfactorily complete the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Fundamentals of Suitability for Suitability and Fitness Adjudicators and obtain the required certification of training within one year of selection to the position.
- Participate in the Defense Security Service’s Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) program, attaining a minimum of Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within 24 months of selection to the position.
- Employee is required to complete the Center for the Development of Security Excellence (CDSE): Introduction to Suitability Adjudications for DoD within 30 days of placement.
- IAW AR 600-85, a DA Form 5019R Condition of Employment must be assigned for mandatory drug testing. Drug testing designated position. Individual agrees to submit to a urinalysis on a recurring basis, in accordance with AR 600-85.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing standardized suitability adjudication guidelines; identifying general policies and procedures that apply to suitability determinations; reviewing the impact of various kinds of derogatory information on the granting of/or denying suitability for federal employment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
Education
