Duties

You will work with subordinates to secure, operate, maintain, and repair all water treatment plant equipment and associated systems as MCAS Yuma, and other sites. You will be responsible for monitoring and operating water treatment operations and processes. You will maintain efficiency and control. adhering to proper maintenance requirements to prevent major damage or system shutdowns. You will determine repairs needed through appropriate testing and inspection. You will direct the operation of a conventional surface water treatment plant to comply with local federal Safe Drinking Water Act regulations.

Requirements

  • This position requires the incumbent to occasionally travel away from the normal duty station. The incumbent may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • The incumbent is required to work in rotating shifts.
  • The incumbent may be required to work overtime
  • The incumbent is required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. The incumbent may be recalled to duty.
  • This is a drug test designated position. The incumbent is required to pass a pre-employment drug test and random testing thereafter.
  • This position requires the incumbent to pass a pre-employment physical examination and pass periodic retests as required.
  • This position requires the incumbent to drive a motor vehicle. The incumbent must possess and maintain the appropriate valid state driver's license and base driving privileges.
  • This position requires the incumbent to possess and maintain the applicable license(s), certification(s) or authorizations(s) to operate assigned equipment and accomplish duties as assigned.
  • At the time of appointment the incumbent must possess and maintain an Arizona Grade 3 Water Plant Operator certificate and an Arizona Grade 3 Water Distribution Systems Operator certificate.
  • The incumbent must successfully complete a forklift operator license course, and obtain and maintain a forklift operator license within 12 months of appointment, if not already licensed.
  • This is a mission essential position.
  • Incumbent is subject to frequently lift and carry parts, equipment weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted and occasionally items weighing over 50 pounds with assistance of other workers or weight handling equipment.
  • Incumbent is subject to perform tasks that require moderate to strenuous physical effort and long periods of walking, kneeling, standing, climbing, bending, and crouching.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Operating water treatment plants; performing preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance of water systems; and being responsible for analysis, evaluation, treatment, distribution, and monitoring of water for for an installation.
