This National Guard position is for a MACHINIST, Position Description Number D1489000 and is part of the NM 150th SOW Maintenance Group, National Guard.
Duties
This position is located in the Aircraft Metals Technology Shop, Fabrication Section of the Field Maintenance Branch at ANG Wing/& Group Flying Activities. The primary purpose of this position is to perform machining operations and welding to accomplish the manufacture and repair of aircraft components, tools, equipment, parts, and special tools.

- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
- Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
- Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

Qualifications
Military Grades: Enlisted (E-5 and below)
Compatible Military Assignments: Must hold AFSC 2A7X2 or have the ability to cross train to 2A7X2
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience or training performing the full range of machining operations on mosttypes of conventional or CNC machine tools and their various attachments. Experience or training inplanning and lay out work from blueprints, worksheets and other drawings that may have missing orincorrect information. Skill in applying shop mathematics in establishing needed dimensions, such asthose required for chasing threads or machining angular surfaces; locating and marking surfaces andangles to be machined. Skill in programming machining operations, setting up and operating CNCmachine tools. Knowledge of and ability to apply advanced shop mathematics such as geometric andtrigonometric formulas to make computation for laying out work, machining pieces at unusual orcompound angles, determining gear ratios pitch, angles and other similar exact or precision dimension.
