About the Position: The incumbent will serve as an International Cooperation Officer (Military Affairs) for USSOUTHCOM-Strategy, Policy, and Plans Directorate-Security Cooperation Division in Miami, FL.

Duties

Serve as a senior subject-matter expert on International Cooperation and related Security Cooperation operations, activities, and investments conducted in the USSOUTHCOM Area of Responsibility (AOR). Lead the planning, management, and/or facilitation of security assistance activities between security assistance and security cooperation planners and implementers that fall within the assigned region of the USSOUTHCOM AOR. Monitor Security Assistance Title 22 Programs [Foreign Military Sales (FMS), Foreign Military Financing (FMF), Excess Defense Articles (EDA), Central America Maritime Regional Initiative (CAMRI), and Caribbean Basin Security Initiative (CBSI). Prepare security assistance and security cooperation informational correspondence. Coordinate assistance visits to the SCOs (Security Cooperation Offices, with the purpose of monitoring compliance with Security Cooperation regulations and policies.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a top-secret security clearance.
  • This position is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R and must pass a urinalysis test as required prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time. Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military aircraft or commercial aircraft.
  • The incumbent may be required to work other than normal work duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays and/or overtime.
  • Must be able to obtain an official U.S. passport.
