Duties

You will serve as Supervisory Physical Therapist (PT) and a primary physical rehabilitation program manager for Explosive Ordnance Disposal Group ONE (EODGRU-1) You will oversee and lead an integrated team of military, civilian, and contractor personnel consisting of other physical therapists, athletic trainers to provide professional injury screening, prevention, evaluation, diagnosis. You will perform supervisory physical therapy professional duties requiring an advanced practical knowledge of physical therapy skills, evidence-based practice, data collection and reporting as part of the EOD FRP team. You will train, mentors and collaborate with the Human Performance Team members to include athletic trainers, strength and conditioning experts, and sports psychologists. You will advise unit leadership on the development and implementation of strength and endurance programming and execution. You will advise Commanders and EOD FRP director on the development and safe implementation of strength and endurance programming and execution to maximize individual Sailor and unit readiness. You will perform a full range of supervisory duties over GS12s/GS11s civilians and military personnel and plan and direct work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets/adjust priorities and deadlines.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) by National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) certification.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current board certification in orthopedic or sports physical therapy, or athletic training certification.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current board certification in manual therapy or McKenzie certification, or post-professional clinical degree related to orthopedic or sports medicine patient care.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment as required by the employer.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain American Heart Association OR American Red Cross Basic Life Support Healthcare provider, and CPR.
  • This position requires frequent lifting of moderately heavy items weighing less than 50 pounds.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing physical therapy evaluation, diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and follow-up care to treat acutely ill, and injured service members with needs concerned with, but not limited to, physical rehabilitation, musculoskeletal extremity injury, spine complications or injuries, neurological injuries/impairments, and pain. LICENSURE: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physical Therapist from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States; and must have passed the National Physical Therapy Examination administered by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy(external link) (FSBPT).
