This position is located in USDA TV studio, Creative Media and Broadcast Center, Office of Communications (OC), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Washington, DC.
OC provides leadership, expertise, management and coordination to develop successful communication strategies and products that advance the mission of USDA and priorities of the Government, while serving and engaging the public in open, transparent, collaborative, fair, and easily accessible manner.
Duties
Serves as production engineer and information technology support resource for CMBC, for both TV and Radio studios, and video editing bays supervising contract repair work.
Works with CMBC team to ensure a working and client friendly environment.
Responsible for all aspects of the production, including supervising and coordinating the efforts of all production crew members.
Direct and manage complex, live, scripted productions with multiple guests, roll-ins, and/or live call-ins.
Manage the audio engineer, broadcast engineer, character generator operator, floor director, teleprompter operator, and multiple camera operators.
Produce and direct live streaming programming that includes remote guests.
Ensures all electronic equipment is properly set up for each day's production work, including ensuring video and audio systems are calibrated and fine-tuned in accordance with specifications and IT systems are properly configured.

Qualifying experience for GS-13 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-12 which is directly related to the work of this position, and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience operating and troubleshooting a variety of electronic equipment in video studios and video and audio studio control rooms; interpreting schematics, drawings, and specifications and troubleshooting technical issues with IP, SDI and HDMI cabling; installing and configuring software-based production systems (such as Broadcast Pix, Adobe CC) and Streaming servers for livestream and on demand streaming platforms; using non-linear editing software (i.e., Adobe CC including Premier, AVID Media Composer) to produce video packages; partnering with clients to develop concepts and technical application to successfully launch content production.Work sample maybe required during interview.
