Duties

This position is located in the Western Colorado Area Office, Administrative Services Division, duty stationed in Grand Junction, Colorado or Durango, Colorado. The position provides a wide variety of administrative support functions for the Office. The duties at the full-performance level include: Receive all forms of cash collections (check, money order, cash, etc.) for license agreements, consent agreements, land use or grazing fees, water supply contracts with the public for municipal or irrigation, water districts third party agreements, jury duty payments, etc., remitted to Reclamation. Within limits of delegated authority, purchases necessary supplies and services by proper procurement methods. Prepare a variety of reports and correspondence for final signature or approval. Operate office automation equipment, including personal computers, printers, copiers, fax, calculators, etc. in preparing technical and administrative materials for managers and staff. Prepare travel arrangements and reimbursements for staff. Conduct new employee orientation and checks out departing employees. Coordinate, review, and process time and attendance reports for the Office.

Qualifications

In order to be rated as qualified for this position, the HR Office must be able to determine that you meet the education or specialized experience requirement - this information must be clearly supported in the resume. To qualify at the GS-05, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-04 level in federal service having demonstrated experience Specialized experience must include at least three (3) of the following: 1. Administrative and clerical support activities, i.e. answering phones, performs receptionist duties and distributing mail; 2. Operating computer software packages, i.e. Microsoft Suite; 3. Prioritizing workload to meet deadlines; 4. Reviewing and editing documents for clarity, grammar, punctuation, and spelling; 5. Operating office automation equipment, including computers, printers, copiers, fax, calculators, etc.. OR Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree, in an accredited college or university. OR Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. To qualify at the GS-06, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-05 level in Federal Service. Specialized experience must include at least five (5) of the following: 1. Administrative and clerical support activities ie answering phones, performs receptionist duties and distributing mail; 2. Operating computer software packages ie Microsoft Suite; 3. Preparing credit card statements for review; 4. Reviewing and editing documents for clarity, grammar, punctuation, and spelling; 5. Operating office automation equipment, including computers, printers, copiers, fax, calculators. etc.; 6. Making purchases in an office setting; 7. Receive and keep record of cash collections (check, money order, cash, etc.). OR Graduate education may be credited in instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position. OR Combination of graduate work directly related to the work of the position and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all Eligibility and Qualification requirements, including any selective placement factors if applicable, by 08/15/2024.

Education

This vacancy announcement allows substituting education for experience at the GS-05 and GS-06 grade levels. Applicants must submit a copy of college transcript(s) (unofficial copy is acceptable) to support claimed education if substituting education for experience. Transcripts must include the name of the college or university and date the degree was conferred. A typed list of courses, grades, semester/quarter hours, GPA, etc. will not be accepted. Non-submission may result in being rated not-qualified for the position.

You will be required to provide official college transcripts to verify educational qualifications, if selected. An official transcript must be sent directly from the University's Registrar's office and must be provided from the institution awarding the degree. Academic transcripts certified by notary publics are NOT official. Official transcripts must be submitted prior to reporting to work as a condition of employment. Failure to submit official transcripts may be grounds for dismissal or rescission of the job offer.

Accreditation: Only education from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education is acceptable to meet education requirements or to substitute for experience, if applicable. Foreign Education: To receive credit for education completed outside the United States, you must show proof that the education has been submitted to a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign educational credentials and such education has been deemed at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education programs.
