This position is located within the Clinical Research Core (CRC), Intramural Research Program (IRP), National Institute on Aging (NIA), National Institutes of Health (NIH). The mission of the National Institute on Aging (NIA) is to conduct and support biomedical, social, and behavioral research and training related to the aging process and diseases, and other special problems or needs of the aged.
Duties
Serves as a Psychologist/senior research assistant who independently performs tasks in specialized area of psychology.
Develops new methods/procedures in support of the activities of the program.
Critically analyzes results of procedures to determine whether data generated is accurate and valid.
Uses a variety of statistical methods for analysis of data. Interprets findings, summarizes conclusions, and prepares data in final form for publication in scientific journals.
Ensures that equipment is available as needed, properly calibrated and in working order. Performs preventive maintenance and makes repairs or arranges for service.
Requirements

Qualifications
In order to qualify for a Psychologist, GS-0180-12 position:
You must have successfully completed a 4 year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with a major or equivalent in psychology.
In addition, in order to meet the qualifications requirements for a Psychologist, GS-0180 at the GS-12 level, you must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: serving as a psychologist and independently performing psychology research and tests; determining the time and resources required for a psychology project and establishing plans and schedules; critically analyzing results of procedures to determine accuracy of data; and discussing psychology projects with internal and external stakeholders.
