The National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC) leads the nation's effort to protect the United States from terrorism by integrating, analyzing and sharing information to drive whole-of-government action and achieve our national CT objectives.

Duties

The National Counterterrorism Center's Directorate of Intelligence (DI) is seeking a creative and collaborative self-starter with strong interpersonal skills to join a team that produces finished intelligence analysis-both strategic and network analysis-on terrorist weapons and explosives capabilities, including chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear weapons (CBRN). The team focuses primarily on the interest, pursuit, and use of CBRN by non-state actors and networks throughout Africa and Asia, including ISIS, al-Q'aida, and other violent extremists. This officer will: Perform in-depth analyses of complex and significant national, regional, and/or global issues for senior policymakers and key components in the Intelligence Community (IC), law enforcement, and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI). Prepare and present a broad range of finished intelligence products and oral briefings in support of US foreign policy and national security interests and anticipate and seek strategic military issues for analysis. Identify strengths and weaknesses of terrorist capabilities and weapons; initiate and apply alternative analysis to determine the range of possible outcomes and consider the warning implications for national security. Utilize a variety of methodological tools and approaches to gain a comprehensive understanding of complex and significant analytic issues and incorporate insights and findings into well-crafted, sophisticated intelligence products. Develop and implement strategies for gathering intelligence, or historical information in support of US interests and policy objectives; cultivate and identify key internal and external sources of relevant information that meet customer and self-derived needs. Maintain productive working relationships with colleagues, IC members, and law enforcement agencies as appropriate and use these relationships to share information of interest; interact with foreign military, diplomatic, and intelligence experts, and attend internal and external training, seminars, or conferences on broader strategic subject areas.

Qualifications

Mandatory Requirements Commitment to mission and teamwork in a highly collaborative environment. Analytic and critical thinking skills, including superior ability to think strategically. Analytic core skills, including analyzing and interpreting complex all-source intelligence for nonexpert customers, briefing, and crafting sophisticated written production, or related transferrable skills. Attention to detail and an ability to drive an account through in-depth research that draws on a wide range of sources. Creative problem-solving skills and initiative in carrying out mission responsibilities. At least two years of experience in analysis focused on counterterrorism, CBRN nonproliferation, explosive materials, or unmanned aircraft systems at a national intelligence agency, federal law enforcement organization, service component, combatant command, or in the private sector. Individuals with technical backgrounds in the fields of chemistry, microbiology, immunology, infectious disease or public health, radiological safety, and engineering also are encouraged to apply. Desired Qualifications Bachelor's or advanced degree in a technical field, including chemistry, biology, nuclear sciences, or engineering.
