About the Position: This position is located within in the Defense Health Agency Headquarter Clinical Support Division, Medical Affairs/Clinical Support Division, Behavioral Health Clinical Management Team (BHCCMT).
This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.

Duties
Provide subject matter expert advise regarding Behavioral Health Clinical Programs such as Medical Management, Case Management, Population Health, Utilization Management, Referral Management, and Clinical Quality Management.
Develop health care policy changes that impact TRICARE eligible beneficiaries.
Review all clinical aspects of direct and private sector care to recommend program benefit improvements.
Represent the Behavioral Health Caring Communication/Case Management program at meetings, conferences, and committees within the Department of Defense, the Veterans Affairs Health Care System, and other governmental agencies.
Provide subject matter expertise for the development or revisions of Behavior Health Caring Communication/Case Management policies and related direct and private sector modifications.
Ensure compliance with National Defense Authorization Act requirements.
Provide advice regarding program(s) execution to senior leaders inside and outside, Congressional staff and other stakeholders.
Requirements

Basic Requirement for Behavioral Health Scientist:
Degree: Bachelor's or graduate (or higher level) degree with major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes analyzing patients' quality of healthcare in a medical facility; preparing reports such as: charts, graphs, project status reports, memoranda, quality assurance plans and evaluations; and assisting with the development of policies and procedures used to monitor the cost of care. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
