Duties

Serve as a Sexual Assault Response Coordinator (SARC) for the U.S. Army Reserve Command (USARC). Conduct training on sexual harassment and sexual assault. Conduct response duties in the event of a sexual harassment complaint or sexual assault. Teach/Coach/Mentor victim advocates assigned to unit. Input sexual assault and sexual harassment data into appropriate system of record to coordinate care. Emphasize the commitment to maintain a workplace environment that rejects sexual harassment and sexual assault and attitudes that promote such behaviors. Coordinate care for complainants and sexual assault victims to ensure they receive the appropriate and responsive care. Maintain working relationships with outside offices to facilitate immediate response and accurate reporting of sexual assault incidents. Track services provided to victims of sexual assault from initial report of sexual assault through disposition and resolution.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have the ability to operate a motor vehicle should the need arise to operate a government vehicle/motor pool vehicle.
  • May be subject to occasional 24/7 on-call SARC responsibilities.
  • The selectee must successfully complete the 6-week SHARP Career Course within 6-months of employment. Failure to obtain the DOD certification within the six months may be grounds for removal.
  • This position requires a secret security clearance.
  • The duties of this position may require the incumbent to work evenings, nights, holidays, and/or weekends to include modification in shifts and/or tour of duty.
  • This position may require temporary duty (TDY) business travel up to 25% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting response efforts for victims of sexual harassment or sexual assault; educating the servicing population on the Sexual Harassment/ Assault Response Prevention (SHARP) program and/or services available; and serving as a member of the command's Sexual Assault Review Board. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Psychology or Sociology. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
