About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the ST-IC-W3VZAA US ARMY TRAINING AND DOCTRINE COMMAND.

Duties

Performs routine and complex security duties related to the safeguarding of personnel, classified information, and equipment. Conducts and/or participates in inspections and surveys, evaluates findings, and makes recommendations for corrective action. Executes and/or participates in periodic inventories of classified documents, equipment, and miscellaneous sensitive material. Initiates, conducts, and/or participates in preliminary inquiries of potential security violations. Reviews personnel security investigations to determine whether an interim security clearance should be granted or denied. Ensures control measures to safeguard and prevent the loss of classified material are in place and updated as required. Serves as a Security Specialist responsible for providing support to senior Security Specialists in the administration and enforcement of intelligence-related security programs.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance based on a T5 investigation/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • May require Temporary Duty (TDY) travel up to 25% of the time.
  • This position has been identified for the Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification Program. For more information, see note below in Additional Information.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience providing administrative support of multiple security disciplines that include two of the following: Personnel Security, Information Security, Industrial Security, and Foreign Disclosure. AND Experience assisting with application of established intelligence related Security policies/procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-07). Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series. OR A Master's Degree that is closely related to the position. Closely Related constitutes a degree which has educated the student in pertinent, specific position-related subject matter allowing the student to develop knowledge and abilities directly applicable to the position being filled such as National Security Studies, Political Science, International Relations/Foreign Affairs, Geography, Security Management/Administrations, Criminal Justice, Psychology, History, or Law. (NOTE: Transcripts must be submitted with application). OR A Master's Degree or Law Degree (LLB or JD) that is supplemented by at least 15 semester hours or 22 quarters hours that are closely related to the position. (NOTE: Transcripts must be submitted with application). OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the first year (18 semester hours) by 18.
