You will serve as a ENGINEERING EQUIPMENT OPERATOR in the ENVIRONMENTAL DIVISION of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND HAWAII.

Duties

You will operate one or more types of heavy equipment to excavate, backfill, grade, or level earth to rough specifications on such projects as breaking new ground for trails, roads, airfields, or other construction sites. You will move earth on mountains, steep slopes, graded curves and shoulders, rocky or soft ground, hilly forests, and other surfaces with similar rough features. You will maintain, repair, and operate the air curtain burner systems, including site preparation, set up and burn operations. You will operate and maintain composting operations, including static pile, windrow and invessel composting processes. You will read and interpret instructions, sketches, drawings, and technical manuals.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Operating one or more types of heavy equipment to excavate, backfill, grade, or level earth; 2) Grading surfaces on all types of terrain; and 3) Assisting with reading and interpreting instructions and blueprints.
