You will serve as a Non-Medical Clinical Counselor of NAS OCEANA.
Duties
You will analyze personal and family readiness program objectives to verify alignment with strategic plans and direction.
You will conduct ongoing case management services to assess service and family member needs, confirm follow-through with treatment recommendations, or to provide additional resource referrals.
You will draft proposals to improve counseling and advocacy program services.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing short term, solution focused counseling for individuals, couples, families and groups of people in crisis; 2) Receiving initial reports and providing safety planning, risk assessment and case management related to child abuse and spouse abuse; 3) Developing and providing treatment targeting at-risk and substantiated victims and offenders of family violence; 4) Maintaining case records, assessments and treatment plans documenting counseling in accordance with policies and regulations. Applicants must meet the following requirements as outlined in SECNAVINST 1754.8: (1) Possess at least a masters or doctoral degree in one of the following disciplines: (a) Master's degree from a program accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Education Programs (CACREP) or an equivalent degree, OR (b) Master's degree from a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE) or an equivalent degree, OR (c) Master's degree in Social Work from a graduate school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) or an equivalent degree, OR (d) Doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited university or professional school and a one-year APA accredited clinical internship. (2) State or U.S. territory license or certification that provides legal authority to provide clinical services as an independent practitioner in the fields of Licensed Professional Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Clinical Social Work, Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology. (3) When the state or U.S. territory licensing or certification requirements include a written examination, candidates for privileging, must have achieved a passing score on that examination. (4) Must have engaged in two years, full-time, post-masters supervised clinical experience.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Basic education requirements for the GS-0101, Professional Social Science Series:
Have successfully completed a behavioral or social science degree, or a degree in a related discipline appropriate to the position being filled. OR
Have a combination of education and experience that provided knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR
Have four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
Basic education requirements for the GS-0180, Professional Psychology Series:
Have successfully completed a degree with a major or equivalent in psychology for a specialization other than clinical or counseling psychology OR
Have successfully completed all the requirements for a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology. OR
Have successfully completed 2 full academic years of graduate study directly related to professional work in counseling psychology, or successfully completed all the requirements for a master's degree directly related to counseling psychology in an accredited educational institution.
Basic education requirements for the GS-0185, Professional Social Work Series:
Have successfully completed a degree in social work that fulfills all of the requirements for the master's degree in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. OR
Have successfully completed a master's degree in social work with practicum.
