The primary purpose of this position is to perform modeling and simulation supporting the Air Force by implementing engineering and scientific methods to support complex, accurate, and technically rigorous model-based analysis of adversary components, nodes, networks and/or systems. The work is in support of operational tasking from customers including the Combatant Commands.
Duties
Produce data driven models and simulations of operational level systems engineering problems to enable targeting and effects assessment of adversary components and systems.
Develop operational requirements and compelling customer focused products that are both interactive and synthesize the results of model-based analysis in support of USAF.
Prepares and presents supporting documentation to include analysis, modeling, reports, presentations, and/or other related documents to communicate and defend analytical approaches and findings to senior members of the United States military.
Support the improvement of existing or development of new analytic methods, models, techniques, and tools to improve analytical products and for long-term capability development.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship Required.
- Must obtain and retain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
- Locations are not negotiable. The actual duty locations available may be located on the Air Force Civilian Service website.
- This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing program. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the basic education and/or specialized experience requirements. Specialized Experience is defined as work in the private or public sector performing duties in or related to the work of the position being filled.
For DR-I: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-5 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized Experience is defined as work in the private or public sector performing duties in or related to the work of the position being filled. Examples of specialized experience include understanding of methods and practices in support of development of modeling and simulation capabilities and recommend ways to improve the effectiveness and efficiency; understanding of test or evaluation methods; knowledge of programming languages such as Python, R or C++ to develop solutions to analytical problems; experience in applying systems thinking concepts and techniques and quantitative and qualitative analysis techniques.
For DR-II: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the DR-I/GS-11 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized Experience is defined as work in the private or public sector performing duties in or related to the work of the position being filled. Examples of specialized experience include comprehensive knowledge of test and evaluation of military capabilities; applications of theories, concepts, principles, methods, hardware, software, and practices related to radar systems, satellites, and/or air domain command and control networks; proficient in programming languages including Python, R or C++ to develop solutions for analysis; experience developing empirical models or simulations to enhance capabilities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (The following will be used to help rate and rank eligible candidates.):
Knowledge of engineering methodologies sufficient to apply experimental theories and/or new applications to issues and provide technical advice and direction in support of radar systems, satellites or air domain command and control networks
Ability to collaborate or contribute individually across disciplines/organizational boundaries to achieve and/or enhance organization effectiveness
Knowledge of military operations in the air and space domains, including radar, command and control, and sensors
Ability to solve critical technical problems that require both innovation and special consideration of engineering principles
Ability to analyzes and resolves routine to moderately-difficult problems within assigned area, using established methodologies and processes
Ability to implement critical thinking in selecting, interpreting, and adapting known scientific principles
Ability to prepare and deliver technical products and briefings to a wide audience that includes military members at multiple levels, industry experts, academics, and peers
