The Clerk's Office of the United States District Court for the District of Oregon is now accepting applications for the position of Help Desk Technician in the Portland Division.
Duties
The incumbent is part of the Information Technology team and provides personal computer end user support as well as general administrative and project assistance. This position is temporary and subject to the availability of funding. This position may become permanent without further competition. More than one position may be filled with this announcement.
Responsibilities
Responds to personal computer help desk calls and e-mails, logs computer problems, and assists with routine problems. Escalates problems that are not quickly resolved via the telephone or e-mail to the next level. Assists with web access, both Internet and intranet. Provides information and assistance to users on software applications, such as word processing and data entry.
Receives general incoming telephone calls to the Information Technology department and responds or forwards calls to the appropriate individual. Remains aware of team schedules, organizes staff calendars.
Prepares routine reports, form letters, notices, and other correspondence using templates and forms. Assists with preparing correspondence and documents, including typing, keyboarding, formatting, and generating documents from templates.
Assists the Information Technology team and vendor with telecommunications replacement projects.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: To be eligible for appointment at CL-23, a candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent and two years of general experience.
Educational Substitutions: Education above the high school level may be substituted for required general experience on the basis of one academic year (30 semester or 45 quarter hours) equals one year of general experience.
Candidates must also demonstrate:

Experience in dealing with routine and complex assignments;
Excellent typing and proofreading skills;
A demonstrated ability to think through, analyze, and interpret written communications;
Ability to prioritize tasks and work assignments;
Superior oral and written communication skills;
Strong interpersonal skills; and
A professional demeanor and appearance appropriate for a law or professional office environment.
