About the Position: The Walla Walla District US Army Corps of Engineers is comprised of motivated and talented employees providing the very best engineering services for communities in the Pacific Northwest. The District helps manage local water resources for navigation, flood damage reduction, disaster assistance, hydroelectric power generation, and other natural and heritage areas.

Duties

Senior Construction Representative for job site construction control of civil works construction projects. Coordinate all planning and schedules relative to the construction projects assigned. Make on-the-spot decisions to ensure that contractors work is performed in accordance with accepted construction practices and good workmanship. Maintain close contractor-government work relationships to obtain the best possible construction job for the government, and compliance with contract drawings and specifications. Direct, schedule, assign, and coordinate the work of assigned lower graded personnel. Construction projects managed include rehab of hydroelectric dams including generators, turbines, fish facilities, navigation locks, and various mechanical and electrical components, construction of fish hatcheries and related facilities. Projects may also include construction of roads and bridges, construction of recreational facilities, dredging, and environmental site restoration . Coordinate and/or provide training to lower grade staff in conjunction with other similarly graded Construction Control representatives. Coordinate with and work under the supervision of the Resident engineer.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must obtain and maintain state issued vehicle driver's license.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
