The successful candidate in this position will serve as a Safety and Occupational Health Manager responsible for managing discrete components of OST's Occupational Safety and Health Programs to assure that the Federal Agent operations and activities are performed safely and in accordance with established policy and procedures.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Specialized Experience Selective Factor - This is a secondary position requiring prior Nuclear Materials Courier experience. If you do not possess this experience, you will not be qualified for this position. Specialized Experience (for positions above GS-5): Experience that demonstrated a knowledge of the transportation function(s) of the position to be filled. A qualified candidate must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower NNSA pay band or GS grade level in the Federal Service (i.e., NN-02, NQ-02 or GS-12).
Examples of Specialized Experience:
1. Experience in Safety Principles and Objective that result in an effective safety and health program.
2. Experience in establishing safety procedures and programs that protect the staff, public and the environment.
3. Experience applying safety and occupational health laws, regulations, principles, theories, practices, and procedures to advise on or resolve technical matters dealing with occupational safety and health requirements.
4. Experience in managing, directing, initiating, and implementing policies that directly support Transportation Safeguards Systems (TSS).

Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

If you are eligible for career transition assistance plans such as ICTAP or CTAP, you must meet the definition of "well qualified" which is defined as having a score of 85 or better.

Education
Major study - Safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene), or degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study from among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology.
